Thred Up

You all know that I am a huge fan of thrift stores and shop them often, especially for children's items. I just don't see the use of spending a ton of $$$ on an item of clothing that my children will get a few months use out of. Plus I fell like I'm doing my little bit to help the planet.

Earlier this year I joined a website called Thred Up, a place where Mom's from all over the country could "swap" out their children's outgrown clothing that still had a lot of life in them.
They send you Priority Mail Medium Flat rate boxes and then you fill it up. On the site you list a description of everything that is in the box and their sizes and that's how you choose which box you like, there is just one drawback - no place for pictures. So, every so often I am going to be posting pictures of my Thred Up Box's on the blog.
Go check it out here!

Mini Mustache

Have you seen these cute little mustache pacifier's ? I decided that my new "nephew from another brother" Ian needed to have some, but I didn't like that most that I saw where made from felt and glued onto the paci. How are you going to sanitize that?! Plus I wanted him to have some "options", so here it is. The interchangable "mini mustache" paci. Can't wait to see it on Ian!

What do you think? Should I put them in the shop?

Mary Poppins purse's

Who didn't love Mary Poppins fantastic carpet bag?! It was so magical and could fit anything inside. If she carried a purse, I bet it would be something like these! And although you cant fit a hat stand inside, it does have some pretty great transformations.

It's reversible, has piping details and pleats. It's large enough to carry a-lot of treasures (great diaper bag size), and the shoulder strap can be worn or tied in numerous ways. You could even use your favorite scarf or vintage cool belt.

This side is made from pendelton wool that I won in the make it with wool contest in High School.

While this side is from some amazing vintage fabric I found stashed at my grandmother's.

I think Ill call these my Mary Poppins Hobo Purse, with Mary Poppins totes and clutches to come.

Frankly Scarlett, you look adorable!

While going through the stash of my grandmother's trimming I found this great green velvet ribbon, which is now a beautiful headband. Scarlett O'Hara would want this to go with that dress of hers for sure!

T-shirt Re-do

I don't know about you, but I'm a bit of a craft stasher. I stash away things that I think I could possibly re-use or remake somehow. One of the piles that keep getting larger is my t-shirt stash.
One's we don't wear, ones that don't fit anymore ( sadly) and ones that I like the color but not the shape. You get the point.
Well this week I decided to use some. I saw this great scarf from Germany and thought " I need to make that!" Then I tried to make a little different style along the same idea. I love them! They are so light and fun to wear.

Great color but was a horrible shape. Super soft cotton too.

Loved this Army Green.

This is the Germany knockoff. Made with this really great t-shirt cotton that I bought years ago at the Los Angeles Fashion Institute thrift store. If you live in LA and haven't gone, you should. You can great some great fabric for really cheap sometimes.

Im loving any braided right now too. Don't ask me why. Well see what else comes up braided.
